Every Cat Has Its Day

The People are out of town and the Evil Dogs are asleep, so I'm taking this opportunity to introduce myself to you.

I'm Kyra.

Thank you. Yes, I am quite beautiful, I know it. I must be part Maine Coon Cat.

I've been the House Cat here since 2003. Before that, I don't remember much about my life except that I was usually cold, I had to spend all my time looking for food, and when I wasn't doing that, I was having kittens. Then, someone brought me to The Big Cage, and I waited there until Laurie and Ben found me.

I tell you, I knew for sure this was going to be the place for me.

There are lots of soft places to lay and relax on.

There are also plenty of windows for me to sun myself in. When I get tired of sleeping, I can watch the birds and rabbits running around the yard.

Of course, there are those Evil Dogs. Humpf.

When I moved in here, it was just the Big Yellow One. I made her nervous but she's not real smart; sometimes I could even tip toe right past her nose and she wouldn't even notice me.

Then one day the People brought home the Little Black and Brown One. That was the worst day of my life. His long nose is so good that I spent the first couple of years after he moved in hiding.

But, after a while, we made our peace.

I'm a girl's girl, and I have a keen sense about everyone who walks in the door. I only like gentle, artistic women. Men are only good for one thing: carrying in the cans of cat food.

That's another reason this is the perfect home for me: my People know lots of gentle, artistic women. Also, Laurie is great at making a lap for me. Plus, she's a writer, so I get to sit and be hypnotized by her tap-tap-tapping on those little black keys for hours...

(Yawn.)

Blogging is exhausting, I don't know how you People do it!

Hi Kyra, I can identify with you because his Mom brought a little puppy in my house a couple of years ago. I try to tip toe past her but she always sees me and then runs after me. I'll never like her. Well, maybe a little. But only whe I want to!

Love,
Tuxxie, Christine's handsome cat

What a pretty girl you are, Kyra! I love the freckles on your nose.

My kitties are girl's girls too. They only like men when they are carrying in their 40 lb. bag of kitty litter. :)

It looks like the cat runs the house.

Hi, I'm Abigail Louise (Ragdoll) and Eliza Jane (Black cat) mom. Nice to meet you. My cats are on my blog all the time. They like to be photographed, just like you!

I wandered over to your blog. Found you on the 2009 One World One Heart Giveaway site. After watching the movie Julie and Julia recently, I've decided to try and go through the ENTIRE OWOH list, from beginning to end, in 90 days and connect/reconnect with all the artists and blogs that truly inspire me! Your blog is amazing and really resonated with me!

A bit about me. I'm a mystery writer, jewelry artist, and college professor. Yes, and a Gemini, if you couldn't tell! Here is my blog, where I blend my mystery writing and jewelry craft:

My first mystery Keeping House: A Madame President mystery just came out on Amazon.
Take care and as Julia Child might say, "Bon Blogging!"
