Bits and pieces on a rainy afternoon

It's raining here this afternoon!  I can hardly get over it.  I'm cozy inside, but I am rather melancholy because it's my friend Michelle's birthday today; it's her first birthday in Heaven.  I'm trying to be happy for her, for where she is...but it's hard right now.

So...some bits and pieces:

I found a really fun, long photo at an auction a few weeks ago.  What do you think?

It's very hard to photograph one of these!  Anyway, here are a couple of close ups:

It's from 1915 -- look at those awesome hats!

I adore that little paperboy that sneaked into the photo -- next to one of the columns, do you see him?

And a few ladies, too -- sticking close together.
 I can't decide if I want to keep it, or sell it.

Here's a cute kitty embroidered tea towel.  I love the motif, which is on both ends of the towel, but I absolutely hate the garish, sparkly copper yarn crochet that someone sewed onto the towel as an all-around trim.  I hate it so much, I didn't even photograph it to show you!  So I will make a little project out of removing it.

Over the last few days I've added lots of new items to my Etsy shop, Indulge Your Shelf.  I also lowered quite a few prices on things that have been in the shop for a while and haven't sold.  This print of a Parisian girl is one of my favorite new shop items; I love how she is framed with the soft blue and the glitz!

Heidi of Dreams Intertwined recently did a giveaway of vintage recipe books; she had 13 to give away and I was one of the lucky winners!  Look how sweet she wrapped the book -- and added ephemera!

It's always so fun to get a gift from a like-minded blogger!

I found these cute little Halloween invitations at an antique store.

Also these two Christmas "corsages".

These old ornaments came from an estate sale I went to a few weeks ago.

I really loved the stars and the moon with the kitschy plastic angels in them!

I had to buy a little Christmas tree and remove them; I tossed the tree (it was hideous!)

and kept the ornaments!

Well, it's time to go make dinner.  With my husband's new job (which he likes very well!), he's home for dinner every night at the same time so it takes a bit more effort than it used to.  I'm going to put an old-fashioned chicken and rice casserole in the oven.  Rainy day + melancholy mood = comfort food!
