That is just too cute! We're finally getting a good rain here, thank God. I'm so glad because I'm plumb worn out from having to water every day. Maybe now our 100 degree heat will dissipate. Great post!!! xo

I didn't realize Helen Hunt Jackson wrote poetry - thanks for sharing this. I'm familiar with her novel "Ramona" that she wrote in 1884 about the plight of the Mission Indians. Our town of Hemet has had an outdoor play about this book since 1923.

Thank you so much for this September poem! I know it's been awhile, but I have been looking for this poem which my 90 year old father recited for me before he passed away in 2014. He was having memory problems, but he still remembered learning this in grade school! My sister says that he used to recite it to us every fall when we were kids.
