They Call Them Grab Bags - So, Grab Them!

Do you pass up those grab bags when you're thrifting? I have blogged about this before, how I can't resist the ones in the crafts section. You just never know what you're going to find!

This one was a no-brainer. Just look at that lace peeking through!

It contained all kinds of lovely old DMC thread...

And some even older, like this floss that is just the perfect shade of antique!

There were two pieces of stamped linen in it; this is the smaller one, the size of a table topper.

But this is the one I was interested in: it was the same homespun texture of linen, but look at the way the beautiful crochet lace was hand-stitched onto it!

I thought it was going to be good, but was shocked when I opened it up to see a full size tablecloth, edged in that lace! (My husband is helpfully holding it up for you to see.) There is not a spot on it!

This grab bag was really a joy. At at $1.99, a real deal, too!

Speaking of deals, if you like vintage handkerchiefs you should check out my Etsy shop; I'm downsizing my own collection and have listed hankies in sets.

If you buy two or more sets, they ship free, now through March 31, 2010!

I am now a follower. You had me when you stopped by my blog and stated that pasta with cream sauce, garlic bread and fresh bread were your favorites....hey bread by itself (okay along with cheese) should be its own food group. So then I stop by to your blog and I see the labels of writing, vintage and thrift store finds and knew I had found a kindred soul. By the way, I am writing a children's book and with my daughter doing the illustrations as well. It is hard work. I look forward to your future posts.

I love your blog and I have enjoyed reading through quite a bit of it. I will be following in the future but right now I have about 900 others from OWOH to visit. I doubt that I will be done anytime soon. It is so nice to meet you.

Laurie - you have better grab bags at your thrift store than we do! :) I have found a kindred spirit here, I can tell. I love old linens, too. The ones that I find damaged, I am saving for some special dolls I want to make. :) xox Pam
