Tami's Creative Button swap

I wanted to show you the results of Tami's fun Creative Button Swap that I participated in:
My partner was Linda at Unlimited Possibilities and when we began to email each other in advance of the swap, we found we had SO much in common: love of buttons, reading, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Jane Austen...and so much more!  So, as often happens when swapping, I met a kindred spirit.
Here is Linda's creation: a plaque she made from a book cover, antique trim, an antique button card, and loads of beautiful china buttons!
The buttons that are black and white are called 'china stencils', and the little one at the bottom of the photo above is called a 'calico' -- it's not a stretch to see how they got these names, is it?
I really love all the buttons she used!  And her clever creation!
I mailed off my swap to her the other day, and she received it yesterday so I can show you now:
I was inspired by a wonderful set of digital images sold by a woman on Etsy, madebyjanet.  I purchased her images of  Jane Austen, and used them to make five tags:

I sewed buttons onto each embellished tag, choosing some of the prettiest, brightest, vintage buttons from my collection!
Then I tied each tag to a picture frame wire; I had seen some people doing this online last year with letters on tags, to spell a word, and I was really inspired!  I used vintage lace and vintage velvet to tie them on.  Then, I added a rosette I made from a large piece of vintage lace.
I really hope Linda likes it -- I sure enjoyed making it for her!

I love both the button creations. Those Marie images are just a beautiful background for buttons- or anything!

I'm very partial to the stencil and calico buttons- I have lots of buttons, but the only ones I really collect are those pretty old china ones- I haven't found any in over a year, but today I got three for a quarter- funny coincidence that you'd show some on your blog.

Oh these are so lovely. You both did such a beautiful job. I know how much you love buttons! Isn't it amazing that we meet so many wonderful people through blogging? I have more in common with my blogging friends than most people I am near.
