The needlebook I sent off

I heard from Joni yesterday that she'd received the needlebook I sent for the Button Floozies Spring Needlebook swap!
Joni is a quilter and she loves vintage, so I created a book from a piece of a vintage cutter quilt top.  I loved this quilt because it is a true patchwork creation, and it was fun to find just the right edge to snip off to make the book.
I covered the front with a very special handmade cotton doily I'd been hoarding -- I love the wispy shape of it.  I sewed three sweet buttons on the front, including a diminutive blue glass one in the middle there.  I edged the cover with tiny mother of pearl buttons.
I lined the quilt with a piece of heavy vintage fabric with a pattern woven into shades of green, and sewed in two 'pages' of felted wool sweaters in pale green and blue.
I covered the inside front cover with vintage lace, and then sewed on a pocket which was cut from a piece of embroidered pillowcase.  I love the sweet purple embroidery, which I accented with a pretty purple button.
I added a selection of vintage-but-new needles in the green leaf, along with a fun pierced vintage button...
I tied some spools of thread into a piece of seam binding in the middle of the needlebook, and then added some vintage pins and safety pins.  I stuck some new, decorated pins in a tiny doily for decoration.
On the back cover -- another piece of that vintage quilt to which I added some barkcloth and lace, and a pretty red button.  I edged the inside of the cover with more of those petite mother-of-pearl buttons.
Here's the back cover -- more of that vintage cutter quilt that I think is so charming!  I had a really good time with this swap.

Dear Laurie,
What a lovely needlebook that you created..I'm sure the recipient loved it. I received my needlebook from Tamatha, and I was blown away. It is wonderful with that vintage look that I so love. I will post a photo as so as I can figure out how.
Thanks again for hosting this great swap.
cheers,
maggie from Maine
