The Fairest of Them All

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge blog is having their weekly challenge to create a card around the theme of a movie -- this time it's "My Fair Lady" starring, of course, my gal Audrey! So, I just had to make time to play!

Here's my creation for the challenge:

I used my favorite Amy Butler paper and embellishments from K and Company, along with an embossed card (that was part of the challenge - to use something embossed, but I have no embossing supplies so this had to do), and lots of other embellishments.

There's still lots of time to play as the deadline is this Thursday, so head on over!

I love how you played with textures and layers! Very Nice! This was my first time with this challenge and it has been a lot of fun checking to see what everyone else has come up with.

A new year

I hope this year will be much easier than the last one, for everyone I know.  I also want to say I'm sorry for not updating this blog since the end of October!  The end of the year was perhaps the worst of it; I'm not able to fake it very well, so instead of coming here and trying to be cheerful, I just don't come here! That's not to say we didn't have lovely holidays despite it all; we did! Here in Colorado January is off to a cold start; even though we get to see the sun on some of the chillier days, it's not possible to hang around outdoors. A frozen fountain I became ill shortly after the new year and continue to struggle with stuff (nothing real serious); I am looking forward to things being back to normal, so I can feel WELL and go back to the gym and have energy to spare! Flagler College in St. Augustine: the Tiffany connection

We visited this wonderful building that began its life in 1888 as a lavish hotel built by Henry Flagler, one of the founders of Standard Oil, and now houses Flagler College . It is such a beautiful old building and in it we saw: these fabulous Tiffany chandeliers... on a spectacular painted and embossed ceiling in one of the hotel's drawing rooms.   I apologize for the quality of the indoor photos -- it was quite dark in the building. I had to laugh at these painted cherubs on the ceiling... and the way their ribbony robes encircle the chandelier mount! This large clock over the mantle is special because it's a Thomas Edison clock and because it is made from one piece of rare onyx.  We were told that Edison's "signature" on his clocks is the use of the incorrect Roman numeral "4".
