A fabric book for Karla

When I went to Birdsong III last month, it was my fourth visit to enjoy Karla's hospitality for an art event, so I wanted to bring something special for her to let her know how much I appreciate all she does.
You know how I love making these fabric books; this time, I had the "base" of a book I'd made a few months ago, and I started adding to it to personalize it for Karla.
\

I included some images I printed on fabric that Karla has shown on her blog or on Facebook, of her sweet little grand daughters.

I tied in a bird tag (of course), and finally "signed" it with some black French laundry tape with my initials on it.

Here's the back cover...
then, I packaged it all in a cloth envelope that I embellished with burlap and ribbon.
She seemed to really enjoy it; I know I loved making it for her!

You wouldn't know it from the way I dress, but I love all that lacy, frilly stuff! Lucky Carla to receive this heartfelt book.

This an AWESOME cloth book! Great work for sure. I'm sure she loved it very much. I am so glad you posted photos for your adoring fans.

I also enjoyed your post on your new job. Good for you. That trunk is wonderful. I haven't been to any great flea markets in several months and need nothing. But I can always hope to find something.

I'm participating in Karen Valentine's WHERE BLOGGERS CREATE blog party and did a quick and dirty post with photos. I never take as much time or care as you do. Thank you.

Laurie, I have no doubt Karla loved it and it was so sweet of you to do that for her when she was busy "doing" for everyone else! My favorite is the Twirl page. I love the way you fashioned a little pink dress.

Gorgeous and generous and personalized is the treasured gift you created for Karla. I bet she cried with JOY! Taking the time to make something so special for someone shows how very special you are. Creative Hearts are Happy Hearts...
She was over the moon happy, wasn't she? It's a beautiful heart treasure!
Hi Laurie, I thankyou always for your sweet comments. I am jealous that you get to go to Karla's birdsong event too. And I love the fabric book you did for her. One of these days I need to make one of those. I feel like I am back on top of things now that my daughter got moved to phoenix with her sweet family, and my son got moved back to Southern Utah from Michigan, and I have been able to get my home back in one piece. Take care my friend

Hi I am new to your site. I desperately want to create a fabric book, but do not have a sewing machine. Is it possible to create one of these by hand? I found your book on Pinterest.
