Updates on all the fun!

So, my son is now on his 2 week Fall Break.  We decided not to travel due to his having been very ill in August upon his return from Jamboree.  We plan to paint our family room next week and are just hanging out this week!  It's been lovely.  And, since Fall fell with a vengeance and we have had weather in the 50's and 60's, it has been cozy, too! You may recall we've been doing Wreck This Journal together ; well, he's still way ahead of me!  Here he is having done the page where the prompt was (something like) "attach the journal to a part of your body"! We visited the puppies yesterday. There's really only one left -- the one with the big ears is spoken for.  If you're interested in Dot, here's a link to her puppy page !  I love them to pieces... and will be so sad to see them go! Isn't it amazing what you put up with from little ones?  Ouch ! I'm down to just one pre-Silver Bella project -- I even found a hat at a craf...

The Joy of Thrifting

Image
I'm getting even more joy (if that were possible) out of sharing my thrifty finds with you at the beginning of each week -- something about sticking to a schedule, and then there's the meeting of new friends who join in at the all the linky parties I've been finding!  Here are a few things that I bought the other day at an Estate Sale: The most interesting small linen squares -- larger than a coaster, smaller than a napkin -- that someone had hand embroidered in different, coordinating patterns.  Almost like quilt squares!  I love them!  Then, these two boxes of vintage greeting cards!  One of those variety packs!  Or I should say, two of them!  Here is something that's not real vintage -- not sure just how old it is, but how much fun! Each block has a different word on each side, for many prose-making possibilities! But best of all, I think, was this handmade button bag!  See how the little faces are buttons?  Some are miss...

Fall in Colorado

It's Fall, and the Aspens have turned. This morning we awoke to snow on the peak: Pikes Peak, that is!

Out of denial

Image
With weather in the 80's almost daily, I've been able to stay in denial about summer's end.  But the leaves are dropping from my Aspens, my Maple is ablaze, and all of my flowers are in various stages of browning.  So, yesterday I accepted it: Fall is here. So, I broke out the fall decor. Those are wall hangings that I don't have space to hang, so I made them into a table runner of sorts. I don't like Halloween decor, so I stick to the Autumn theme of leaves, pumpkins, harvest. I was so pleasantly surprised to pull out that Autumn banner I'd made last year -- I can't believe that I had forgotten about it! Nothing really overboard -- just a few colorful touches here... and there.  Above, my favorite photo of Dennis and Ben, with some cookie cutters adding Fall flair.   A colorful table topper and some fall-colored potpourri in a Frankoma leaf dish. A pumpkin tree; now, of course, this doesn't occur anywhere in nature.  But isn't it pr...
