I {big pink puffy heart} Valentine's Day crafting

I look forward to Valentine's Day...
it is such a charming reason for a celebration!
All love and hearts and lace and flowers and pink!
Rebecca and I took an afternoon out for creating at our friend Amy's store, The Pink Attic Cat.
Her store has always been a favorite, but now has a new location...
on Rapp Street, still in Littleton, Colorado.  It was my first visit to the new digs!
Here's Amy with the talented Isa, in the new shop.  It's bigger -- with more room for everything!
So, Amy held a Valentine craft day at The Pink Attic Cat; look at all the wonderful stuff she gave us to start with in our kits!
All yummy and truly vintage!
And then we had ALL these extras to choose from...
and snacks!  We were spoiled.
Of course there was plenty of wonderful stuff for sale all over the shop -- there always is.

It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday; I think it's obvious that we were having a wonderfully relaxing, fun time!
 
 I made all this!
 First, using the bottom of a Valentine heart candy box, I did a Parisian vignette.
There's an Eifel Tower, a plane and a ticket within a heart.  I jokingly said, do you think my husband will take the hint?
 Here's the back; it can hang on the wall from a bit of lacy trim.
 Amy had this fabulous vintage doily placemat which I used over red paper for the card on the left; I especially love the Rocky Mountain Dairy milk cap!
The one on the right is layered with vintage elements, die cuts, and a really wonderful stamp!  I may be adding some glitter and shading to it later.
 A vintage juvenile valentine, lined with eyelets and hanging from a crepe paper handle.
I couldn't resist the blues when I was putting this one together.  That black strip across the bottom is a blade from a vintage fan that Amy salvaged! 

There was all kinds of fabulous creating going on there!
Oh, I brought this little tag as a gift for Amy -- I had so much fun with the vixen theme, and incorporated a garter clip and a piece of vintage slip strap into the design!  The heart is vintage wallpaper.  And of course -- it's all pink!

that is an afternoon that I would love! I do get a little overwhelmed with pink and red and , in the end, want to make brown hearts...

These photos are very inspiring. I created some simple valentine cards but I realize now that I need to add RED to them. I'm sure I can find somethig red in my stash of papers. I want to send Valentine thank you cards to all the friends who have helped me during this time of confinement. Other people would get out and about. If I had a regular job, I'm sure I would get out more than I do now. But I've taken this time to heal and relax and reflect. Reading blog posts like this one today helps me a lot. One more week before I can hobble around on the walking boot and I can turn in the knee scooter. In the meantime, I'm getting back to those Valentine cards and dolling them up with red and sparkles.

Flagler College in St. Augustine: the Tiffany connection

We visited this wonderful building that began its life in 1888 as a lavish hotel built by Henry Flagler, one of the founders of Standard Oil, and now houses Flagler College . It is such a beautiful old building and in it we saw: these fabulous Tiffany chandeliers... on a spectacular painted and embossed ceiling in one of the hotel's drawing rooms.   I apologize for the quality of the indoor photos -- it was quite dark in the building. I had to laugh at these painted cherubs on the ceiling... and the way their ribbony robes encircle the chandelier mount! This large clock over the mantle is special because it's a Thomas Edison clock and because it is made from one piece of rare onyx.  We were told that Edison's "signature" on his clocks is the use of the incorrect Roman numeral "4". O Christmas tree, jeweled Christmas tree...

Earlier in the season Rebecca and I went to a craft fair at a local high school, and there was one booth with the CUTEST little jeweled, framed Christmas trees! The gal was nice enough to let me photograph them.  Sorry it's kind of blurry, but it was dark in that high school gym! I know it's an older kind of craft (from the '60s and '70s) but she made them sweet -- not gaudy at all.  We were both SO inspired. So, last week we made it happen.  I brought a bunch of my old, broken vintage jewelry, some velvet, glue,  old frames, and we sat in her dining room and made a forest of little trees! It was so simple: first, we took a vintage frame and covered the backing with velvet.  We just glued it on. Then, we took our time arranging bits and pieces of jewels into a Christmas tree shape. When we were happy with the arrangement, we committed and glued the jewels down!  I love this avocado green velvet! And then we did it again.  We had so much fun playing
