Gifts of art and creativity

Image
I am so blessed to have friends who helped me celebrate this year's birthday with some amazing gifts of creativity and art!  Kathy chose this tin especially because of the Vera name -- I love the Art Deco feel of it! She filled it with a Happy Birthday glass pendant she made, and all kinds of sweet things for art that she knew I would love! You know I will have fun with all of this!  The Blue Chip stamps bring back such memories!  And when I look at that Dresden foil "25" and think that I am twice that -- I just have to do a double take! No pun intended!  Kathy has the best stuff! Rebecca gifted me a box full of loveliness, packed in a sweet, low color box emblazoned with my favorite flower.  Inside, wonderful gifts that tell me she really knows my heart!  A roll of delicious burlap and linen script ribbon...  and this -- something I have never seen before, but instantly loved -- Birds on a Wire -- which is exactly that: differe...

Vintage Darlings Snippet Roll Swap - my snippet roll from Cerri

Image
Cerri's snippet roll arrived and it is just gorgeous! Here it is in full...  and section by section.  I love having my initial "L" on it  The "sweetheart" pin is another favorite section...  ...along with that pretty lavender button! But the little bird, I think, is my favorite part of all! I'm so happy to have done this swap, and I hope Cerri liked her snippet roll as much as I liked mine!

A great day and a new beginning

Some scenes from my birthday Friday, in which I celebrated 50!  I took the day off work and had lunch and a pedicure with Rebecca Dennis took me out for a fabulous seafood dinner complete with birthday "cake" (bread pudding) Then we saw a local production of a MUSICAL of my favorite novel Front row Mind you, I had already been treated to a birthday celebration last Sunday...  ...at Rebecca's! Which included my favorite cake.  And we were celebrating something else, too: today is the first day of my LAST WEEK at Goodwill. I start a new job on the 29th! Can you hear the angels singing Hallelujiah?  I can!

The last outdoor festival of my season

Image
Yesterday Kathy and I attended what will probably be the last outdoor festival of the season -- at least for me -- in Florence, Colorado.  It was a beautiful day!  I love this event because it's both an outdoor Junktique and a craft fair (plus an old fashioned parade) in a small town. Here's Kathy -- she doesn't like having her photo taken, and doesn't stand still for very long either so it's hard to catch her!   It was so funny going with her to this event because she knew EVERYONE who was a vendor there -- everywhere we walked someone greeted her! We visited some indoor shops, too when we were ready to get out of the sun and into the A/C. But I think my favorite part of the day was relaxing on a park bench under the trees and having a long chat with Kathy. Kathy gifted me a beautiful collection of pretty things for my birthday (more on that in a later post), and I gave her a snippet roll I made just for her.   Yes, sorry, you need...
