How does that work?

Will someone please explain this to me:  My son just spent his ENTIRE summer as a Camp Counselor.  During those weeks he came into contact with hundreds, if not thousands, of Scouts from all over the US and even the world.  He was far, far away from me, without the benefit of hand washing reminders or my insistence on regular meals and good nights' sleeps.  He breathed smoky air from our Colorado wildfires nearby for weeks.  He slept in the rain.  Yet somehow he stayed healthy and well all summer long.
Now, he's been back at school for just one full week and is already home sick with a bad cold. How does that work?
That's Ben at the top of the pyramid
Here's another one for you: he and I ate the same Chinese food last night; as aforementioned, he was sick with a nasty cold so I offered to bring him home some of his favorite won ton soup.  He asked for a full meal instead.  (Feed a cold.)  So I picked that up and asked for a noodle dish for myself.  Now, he ate a little of my noodle dish, while I ate a normal portion of it.  About six hours later, and for the rest of the night -- and even up until now -- I am a digestive wreck.  And he's not.  How does that work?
I got up and went to work, lasted one hour feeling VERY ill, and then gave up and came home.  I have slept most of the day.  Now I'm up again and I have a chance to show you what I bought at the antique store last weekend: a pair of half moon tables that I decided to use as night stands. They are shabby and chippy.
I'm not a fan of a lot of bedroom furniture; so when we did our Master bedroom, we used shelves as nightstands (and iron work in place of a headboard.)  Above: the "before"; see how everything is kind of spilling off the little shelf?
Above, the "after": one of the little half moon tables in its new spot as a nightstand.  I wanted to try them as is, and of course I have since decided they need to be painted white.  I think they're going to look great!  I love how they can hold so much ore than those dinky shelves did, and yet they are still "open" and not bulky.  Sorry the photos are rather dark; as you may have heard, we have been getting a lot of rain here in the Colorado Springs area lately.
As I don't often show you photos of my bedroom, I snapped a couple more while I was at it.  This little light switch cover next to our bedroom door came from Karla Nathan's house; after she did a makeover she passed it along and I was so glad it came home with me!
And here's my dress form looking pretty in pink -- if a bit weighted down with jewels!  At my new job I wear a name badge lanyard around my neck instead of the pretty things I'm used to wearing; it's safer that way, really -- I could just see one of my beautiful work-of-art pieces ending up in the bottom of a bin of donated books by mistake!  But I still miss wearing all the inspiring pieces I've collected.
To cheer myself up a bit over that, I bought a lanyard very much like this one from Etsian Belladees -- and I love it!
Speaking of Etsy: I have extended my half-price sale through September 30.  I'm sad about not selling vintage anymore but excited to eventually move my handmade shop over to Indulge Your Shelf and redesign it -- so please don't un-favorite my shop!  I'm just five sales away from 600 sales and 500 feedback (how does that work?)

Hope you're feeling better soon. I find my little man gets a cold that lasts all of two days, then I catch it and it lasts for weeks!
Your little bedside table will look lovely painted.
I need a pretty lanyard like that for my work pass.

Love that sweet little switchplate. So sorry you and Ben are under the weather. I DO understand how the Ben thing works. So much easier to stay healthy when you are outside in the fresh air! Hope you are both feeling better soon.
Who can say why we get sick and when? no rhyme or reason to it I always hear

sure hope it passes by quick and you both feel a lot better

love the light switch cupid

It's just school period! I swear my kid is sick at least once a month after school gets back in! Hope your stomach finally calmed down! I sent you another e-mail when you have time ;)

I don't really know how all that works, small school space with germs from others vs outdoors in the fresh air I would guess.
Hope you both feel better soon.
Have a great weekend.

Love all your pretty necklaces and the way you have them displayed on the mannequin. Hope you're feeling better by now.
