Back to earth from button heaven!

I had so much fun this weekend at the Colorado State Button Society's Annual Show!  It was a three-day weekend, as I mentioned before, since I was helping out at the State Competition Friday, too.  I was able to clerk alongside a very experienced button collector, who was so wonderful with sharing her knowledge!  I learned a ton!
It was a l-o-n-g day.  Don't laugh, but it was also exhausting.  What could be exhausting about looking at button displays, you ask?  Well, the award criteria is very, very extensive, and we have to check each button on each "tray" with a fine-toothed comb.
And there were a lot of trays!  About 30 awards.  After our judging team evaluated the trays, some experts evaluated our work, too -- a double check.
Once our work had been checked, we were free to go.
The next day, all the trays, not just the winners, were on display at the show on these easels, for all to admire!
Cute little embroidered bird
Turquoise roaring lion on jet (coal)
Bird with house -- I adore this one!
Sweet glass teapot
Gorgeous cameo surrounded with paste
Such a pretty, galloping horse!
This "tray" was done for an award on the Chinese zodiac
 Lovely examples of colored glass
I'm sorry the photos aren't better -- I took them in a showroom and the displays were all covered with a plastic sheath.  Next post: my button purchases!

Love the horse Laurie. I'd be in heaven at one of these button shows. We don't have them in NZ.
