If you follow this blog via Google Friend Connect...

It annoys me to have to do this, but, I'm posting this as information so that, if you don't have a gmail account and have been following Indulge Your Shelf on Google Friend connect, you won't wonder where my blog disappeared to tomorrow; I've already lost several "followers" which makes me sad AND annoyed. For what it's worth, even though I obviously do have a gmail account, I still use Bloglovin' to follow all my favorite blogs and I really like it.  You just type in Indulge Your Shelf in the search bar and click Follow This Blog. You can also follow this blog via Facebook by liking this page .  Then, blog posts will show up in your regular Facebook feed, or, you can visit the page whenever you want to. And, for 99 cents per month, you can subscribe to this blog and have it delivered to your Kindle account just like your books.  I set that up as a convenience for readers when eReaders came into fashion a few years ago. I hope no one goes awa...

Blog hoppin'

Image
I was invited to a blog hop by my friend Kathy who blogs over at  Klueless .   Which does not seem to me to be the most accurate title, as Kathy is full of wisdom on so many subjects! When you visit Kathy's blog you get to drool over her finds, like this post from earlier this year. It's a Junk-A-Rama...and there's even a part two in which Kathy returns to the estate sale and finds more delightful junque! A lot of what she finds she uses in her art; check out this collage .   It's so easy to see why I feel like Kathy and I are members of the same tribe. I'm very inspired by the way Kathy diligently works to fill up her art journals. You can and must visit her Etsy shop, too, Strangenotions .  One of my favorite things she offers besides vintage bounty and her own beautiful art is inspiration kits -- so you can make something of your own. And did I tell you she was into buttons , too?  Her blog template even features button flowers -...

Your mission, should you choose to accept it

Image
I'm back at work full time as you all know (seven months now -- can you believe it?) That means trying to eat healthy away from home, which, as much as I dislike using them, can sometimes mean buying single serving containers. Like these little yogurt containers. Have you seen them?  They're divided for yogurt in one side and something to mix in (nuts, berries, granola, etc.) in the other. So I'm at work, sitting in the break room, thinking, what a waste to toss this nifty little container. It seems like you ought to be able to do some thing crafty with it. But what? So I thought it would be FUN to get up a little challenge. Let's all try our hand at creating something pretty from one of these little divided containers. It doesn't have to be this brand...there are many Greek yogurts that are currently using the same design. Comment if you want to play along; I'll keep the "sign up" period open for a week or so. If I have ...

It's been a long time since I've participated in a big blog party, so when I saw the button for this one I jumped on it! Happy new year and back up your blog!

Image
Happy new year, friends.  It's a good day to back up your blog, if you have one.  If you use Blogger like I do, it's so easy : From your Dashboard, click on Settings Under Settings, click on Other At the top of that page, you will see three choices -- one of them is Export your blog.  Click on that. You will see a window with an orange Download Blog button; when you click on that you will download your whole blog in Blogger Atom export format.  Keep that file and you will be able to restore your blog if something awful were to happen to it. I'm sure there's an easy way to do it using other providers, too.  You should do it right now.  It's a good time to back up all the rest of your important stuff, too.  'Most especially photos .  I always feel terrible when I hear about people losing their hard drives and all of their photos were on it.  If you don't already back up your photos to the web, then take a few minutes to burn them...

Sweetness

Image
Take a look at some of the sweetness I've received in the mail lately: This twine on a lovely old wooden spool was a gift from Hope to celebrate 200 posts on her blog! This sweet little pink box was a little surprise from LuLu , another button lover! LuLu has recently discovered my other blog, Button Floozies ! And I've loved receiving cards and notes from so many of you, to cheer me after my recent loss.  It means the world to me -- you have no idea.  Thank you. I wanted to show you some of the unique antique wallpaper I was lucky enough to find at a recent estate sale.  The sellers had an inkling of its value, so I didn't get it for cheap -- but isn't it wonderful?!  It has a great texture and is quite delicate.  I'm selling a large roll of it in my Etsy shop . Then this one: it's scenes from what looks to me like a New England coastal village.  I love the little boats!  Jeanelle mentioned that you hardly ever see old wallpaper that's reall...
