Estate auction heaven

Image
I had so much fun yesterday at an auction out on a country estate of a well-known Colorado resident. It was without a doubt one of the more pleasant auction -- and junking -- experiences I've had in a long time.  There was so much to see that I'm going to have to take a couple of posts to show you all the photos.  First, I'm going to show you the pictures I took while walking through the beautiful old, turn-of-the-century house: Everything you see in all of the photos was for sale... A view from an upstairs window out onto the "barn" where another auction was taking place simultaneously.  Oh, to have been able to be in two places at once! This little white cabinet/dresser was child-sized! It was such a treat to walk around the home and admire just what was picked/leftover as this was the second weekend of the auction.   I cann...

Sweetness

Image
Take a look at some of the sweetness I've received in the mail lately: This twine on a lovely old wooden spool was a gift from Hope to celebrate 200 posts on her blog! Then this one: it's scenes from what looks to me like a New England coastal village.  I love the little boats!  Jeanelle mentioned that you hardly ever see old wallpaper that's reall...

Image

Loose ends. Saturday, the day Ben left, I took my husband with me to an auction. Now, Dennis is not into antiques and he has a hard time sitting still.  But he did very well, and found the whole process very interesting!  (Translation: he was bored but not miserable.) Do you see that long sectional sofa in front?  It is vintage, with wooden frame, and nicely upholstered...
