My vintage Christmas addiction

Hi, my name is Laurie, and I'm a vintage-Christmas-aholic.
 Front and back of  this pair of Santa candle holders!
 They were in such great condition that I couldn't leave them behind!
 Vintage Christmas wrap...
 A runner I almost passed up because I thought, at $4, it was too expensive.  That's how I get when I'm out thrifting!
 I just love all the reindeer!
I bought all of these at the antique store in Boulder: 
 This very delicate glass ornament is by Resl Lenz; it was made in Germany, and is the first in their 12 Days of Christmas Series...
 a partridge in a pear tree!
 I love this little boot by Holt Howard!
 I picked up this little grouping of ornaments at a thrift shop called St. Paws, where sales go to support animal rescue charities.
 These little red deer ar flocked, then decorated to the hilt, including with sequins pinned on.
 This "old lady who lived in a shoe" ornament is so kitschy -- look at that tiny plastic deer on the toe!
 I love this little sparkly snowman, and the angel...
 that still has its "made in Japan" tag on it!
 These are glass ornaments with molded plastic angels attached to them!
 This is the back of the box they came in.
 I thought this macrame Christmas tree wall hanging was just charming!
 You just don't see something like this every day!
 Or like this: a chunky candle holder, shaped like a wrapped gift!  You slip a votive inside on the bottom.
Now these Christmas bulbs were so delicate and unique.  I have no idea what their use was...anyone?
I do my best to stay away from the thrift shops, but as you can see I'm not always successful!  There is just so much Christmas junk to see at this time of the year.
It's a sickness.

So much Christmas Kitsch and so little time to have it on display. Don't you wish you could set up a room just devoted to Christmas and leave it displayed all year? I really fell in love with your pair of tumbling Santa candle holders, oh, and the runner with all those reindeer - Rudolph, Vixen and Blitzen, et al. Guess I'm still just a kid at heart.

Some beautiful treasurers found. Good eye. The light bulbs look like they would possibly fit in older christmas lights that have the small bulbs - same size as night light bulbs. They are beautiful for sure. Great haul.

O Christmas tree, jeweled Christmas tree...

Earlier in the season Rebecca and I went to a craft fair at a local high school, and there was one booth with the CUTEST little jeweled, framed Christmas trees! The gal was nice enough to let me photograph them.  Sorry it's kind of blurry, but it was dark in that high school gym! I know it's an older kind of craft (from the '60s and '70s) but she made them sweet -- not gaudy at all.  We were both SO inspired. So, last week we made it happen.  I brought a bunch of my old, broken vintage jewelry, some velvet, glue,  old frames, and we sat in her dining room and made a forest of little trees! It was so simple: first, we took a vintage frame and covered the backing with velvet.  We just glued it on. Then, we took our time arranging bits and pieces of jewels into a Christmas tree shape. When we were happy with the arrangement, we committed and glued the jewels down!  I love this avocado green velvet! And then we did it again.  We had so much fun playing

Flagler College in St. Augustine: the Tiffany connection

We visited this wonderful building that began its life in 1888 as a lavish hotel built by Henry Flagler, one of the founders of Standard Oil, and now houses Flagler College . It is such a beautiful old building and in it we saw: these fabulous Tiffany chandeliers... on a spectacular painted and embossed ceiling in one of the hotel's drawing rooms.   I apologize for the quality of the indoor photos -- it was quite dark in the building. I had to laugh at these painted cherubs on the ceiling... and the way their ribbony robes encircle the chandelier mount! This large clock over the mantle is special because it's a Thomas Edison clock and because it is made from one piece of rare onyx.  We were told that Edison's "signature" on his clocks is the use of the incorrect Roman numeral "4".
