Indulge Your Shelf

Wow, January seemed never-ending, didn't it?  I'm just so glad it's now February!  I got started with making valentines way early, and then I got involved in a heart swap with a FB group called Rag Bag Gals .  Those hearts are not due until March 7, and I have them cut out and ready to start sewing.  I sent a bunch of valentines out the other day, including those I am swapping with two blog friends, and created too many heart crafts to count, a few of which I sold at an event called The Ultimate Indoor Garage Sale last week. This was the first time in many years I've done an event like this.  It was located at an indoor barn-like structure, and what was fabulous was that we were able to drive right in and unload right next to our spaces!  That was sweet! For the first time in many, many years, I had a booth at a craft fair!  It was a large show at a local high school, and I signed up to do it at the last minute.  Rebecca crafted some wonderful gifts for the booth, but couldn't be there on the day of the sale.  Dennis helped me -- and he was a huge help!  It was fun! We set the tables up the night before; they were very simple, but pretty with lots of white, and lights.  Besides the handmade stuff, I sold some of my vintage Christmas items -- like the angels and caroler statues.  This photo was taken late in the day, after we'd sold quite a bit! There has been some fun and relaxation, much of it vintage style, this summer; I just haven't taken the time to write about it with all else going on.  So, now for some catching up: Ben moved back up to UNC for his sophmore year a couple of weeks ago.  This time he did it on his own -- but we did take up a carload for him. He's in a different dormitory this year, but with friends from childhood: a guy he was in Cub Scouts with and a guy who used to be a neighbor down the street.  The guy with the beard isn't a roommate, but also attends the school and is a longtime friend. His sweet girlfriend is also attending the same school this year. I bought some wonderful vintage sewing notions from a friend who sells on eBay, Linda  -- don't you love this little hosiery repair kit?
