All over the world wide web, something special happened as the clock struck midnight. It was January 25, and the air was filled with a kind of energy...tangible to those of us who had been watching, and waiting for this day.

I myself awoke to remember a vivid and colorful dream, in which I had been transported by a magic carpet, taken to a lovely home, high on a hill...a kind of castle...

Presiding over the beautiful home was a lovely lady...

She was a kind and attentive hostess, inviting me to take tea with her, and serving it in a wonderfully appointed room, using the finest china so that I felt like a Queen...

We spoke of beauty, and beautiful things, as we sipped our tea: fine papers, lovely home furnishings, and the importance of maintaining the personal touch in all we do...

We discovered we both loved textiles, ribbon, and fine papers.
We also shared an enjoyment of literature, music, and creating art.

The time passed far too quickly, and soon the tea had cooled and the time came to bid each other Adieu. I awoke from this pleasant dream with a feeling of joy at having met a gracious new friend. I knew I would return to visit her, again.
My dream, full of the spirit of One World, One Heart, inspired the giveaways I'm offering. There are two (2) gifts you may win; one gift will be sent to each of two winners I choose randomly! Yes, that means you may enter once and have two chances to win a gift!

Gift 1: "Marie" Fabric Covered Box and Antique Aynsley Tea Cup

The box is my own creation, hand made by me. I covered a small round box with pretty papers, including the antique print on the top of the lovely lady. I lined the inside box bottom with exquisite printed fabric.

On the inside lid is a beautiful antique floral silk ribbon embellishment.

Fine ribbons, fabric-covered button, vintage seam binding and a tassel adorn the box lid.

A beautiful Aynsley bone china cup and saucer, made in England, with a unique and beautiful hand painted scene and gold trim. It is a version of their pattern, "Bluebell Time."

Gift 2: Three Fancy Decorated Tags and an Ephemera Pack

A second winner will receive these tags, handmade by me, using a variety of antique inspired images, vintage ephemera, vintage and antique ribbon, lace, and trims; and vintage jewelry!

Antique papers, antique crochet lace, and seam binding ribbon complete it.

The final tag, a collage of old papers and linen transfer art, is intentionally left "plain" so that you may add your own creative touches to it!

I've dipped into my personal collection of the antique ephemera that I use for my art, and compiled this assortment.

Included are: handmade lace doilies, vintage wallpaper, sheet music, antique book pages, antique greeting cards, train tickets, paper heart doily, "new" antique liquor label, linen transfer, and more. (I will probably throw in a few additional surprises as I come across them!)

Everything in this collection is original and authentic -- not a scan or print.

(Included is a German book page that mentions Marie Antoinette.)


The only "new" items in the collection are a kitty sticker by Victorian Papers and a set of blue sticky "jewels"...everything else is OLD. I hope you will be inspired by the collection!

O Christmas tree, jeweled Christmas tree...

Earlier in the season Rebecca and I went to a craft fair at a local high school, and there was one booth with the CUTEST little jeweled, framed Christmas trees! The gal was nice enough to let me photograph them.  Sorry it's kind of blurry, but it was dark in that high school gym! I know it's an older kind of craft (from the '60s and '70s) but she made them sweet -- not gaudy at all.  We were both SO inspired. So, last week we made it happen.  I brought a bunch of my old, broken vintage jewelry, some velvet, glue,  old frames, and we sat in her dining room and made a forest of little trees! It was so simple: first, we took a vintage frame and covered the backing with velvet.  We just glued it on. Then, we took our time arranging bits and pieces of jewels into a Christmas tree shape. When we were happy with the arrangement, we committed and glued the jewels down!  I love this avocado green velvet! And then we did it again.  We had so much fun playing

Flagler College in St. Augustine: the Tiffany connection

We visited this wonderful building that began its life in 1888 as a lavish hotel built by Henry Flagler, one of the founders of Standard Oil, and now houses Flagler College . It is such a beautiful old building and in it we saw: these fabulous Tiffany chandeliers... on a spectacular painted and embossed ceiling in one of the hotel's drawing rooms.   I apologize for the quality of the indoor photos -- it was quite dark in the building. I had to laugh at these painted cherubs on the ceiling... and the way their ribbony robes encircle the chandelier mount! This large clock over the mantle is special because it's a Thomas Edison clock and because it is made from one piece of rare onyx.  We were told that Edison's "signature" on his clocks is the use of the incorrect Roman numeral "4".
